Yoga
I began practicing Yoga just as I was wrapping up my bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma in 2006. Yoga was almost unheard of in the midwest but I was fortunate enough to discover the real deal from the outset with Andrew Eppler’s humble Ashtanga shala in the middle of our small town. The practice was welcoming and straightforward, I loved the methodical, no-frills approach, and even from the very the beginning, knew that I had stumbled upon something special.
Life got super real in 2012 when I lost my youngest brother to suicide, which awakened a desperate fervor for healing and stability, knowing that the grief I needed to process was monumental. I needed a safe container, away from Western clinicians, pharmaceuticals and of course, alcohol and other substances. Ergo, I chose to travel to Mysore, India to be with my teacher’s teacher BNS Iyengar and dive into the ancient teachings of Ashtanga Yoga. This period of time saved my own life and catalyzed a vocation in the healing arts, a commitment to help others find sanctuary and freedom within themselves regardless of external circumstances.

“Erin brings an experience of heart-opening sunshine to every class. With her playful sequencing between delicious poses and intuitive cues—“Good place for a mouth exhale!”—Erin empowers us with the confidence to explore how our bodies feel in the very moment. She is a humble master at gently detangling knots of mental, emotional, and physical stress through intentional breathwork toward areas of tension...did I mention how juicy the poses feel? Whether you’re a beginning or advanced yoga student, we all depart Erin’s classes with a humming sensation of mind-body interconnectedness. Her teachings are carefully crafted to join us off the mat into the hubbub of our busy lives—one sweet and slow “Aaahhhhh” at a time.” -Sahar F.
